sounds like someone's got a case of the mondays?

Definitely the case over here. Spring is officially upon us, which means party season in SF is in full bloom - so this one goes out to all of you who had it particularly rough today. Nothing like a little aural therapy to get you back in shape for the week.

Local Dirtybird girl J.Phlip dropped this a few weeks ago with the help of Alland Byallo's local Nightlight record label. It's only her second release, and this one is gonna be big. This track sums up nearly everything I love about electronic music: a hauntingly beautiful, yet simple melody sequenced to perfection, and 7.5 minutes later you are a better person.

(LittleV HIGHLY recommended... 4 thumbs up!)

I found the original of this one over at our friend Curb Crawlers (excellent blog...go show them some love!). Guy Gerber gives dOP a bit of a dubby treatment, making it the perfect soundtrack to that late-night train ride home.

This last one goes out to Ellen Allien, who not only threw an off the hook party this weekend, but completely blew me away when she started off her set with one of the sickest dubstep tunes I've ever heard. If anyone was there on Friday, and happens to know what track that was, PLEASE HIT ME UP! She also played vinyl her entire set, which was definitely a surprise, and quite thought-provoking in terms of the role of vinyl vs laptop in this modern day and age (I'll spare you the boring details of LittleV and my cab ride debate for now...). Moderat, also on Allien's BPitch Control, equals Modeselektor plus Apparat, and they are coincidentally playing live in SF on May 20. I've seen Modeselektor twice live, and cannot recommend highly enough that you check this show out. Hopefully this one will hold you over until then, or at least through the week.
